Hi friends,
Todayās newsletter is about how I survived a family birthday weekend on Blueprint.
Same excuse as last week for posting late! (I generally post Sundays or latest Mondays). With traveling the past three days, birthday celebrations, and posting a video about week five (which you can check out here) the time sped by.
In case you missed it - my friend Jesse and I are embarking on a 90 day Blueprint challenge (learn more here) where we eat all BP meals, workout 7 days/week, and aim to get 100% sleep performance.
This weekend I enjoyed a joint 30th birthday trip for me and my spouse (weāre born 12 days apart). We rented a giant barn house in the middle of nowhere and got to celebrating with 17 family members and friends.
Unfortunately, none of them were doing Blueprint š°.
Except of course for Jesse, who joined me on the trip (thank the lord!). Together we fought to abstain from the many glorious family meals and stick to the protocol.
Hereās the daily schedule we maintained and the obstacles we overcame:
āļø Daily Schedule
7-8am: wakeup
8-9am: drink green giant + supplements + skincare
9-10:30am: workout
11am-12pm: first meal - nutty pudding
3-4pm: second meal - super veggie + salad if desired
no more food after 4pm/5pm
6-7pm: watch everyone eat dinner š³
9:30pm: head to bed + 20min NSDR session
10pm: lights out
šļø Obstacles & Solutions
Workout - we werenāt sure how weād make space to workout but it was fairly simple. We went for a hike for a warmup (during which Jesse hit his peak strain) and then I continued working out with weights + resistance bands. Hereās what we brought to workout:
3 resistance bands - light, med, heavy
1 set of 10lb weights
yoga mat - to workout on [separation from grass/gravel]
towel (since jesse didnāt have a yoga mat)
Family meals - these were tough. My family LOVES to make massive, delicious meals. The hardest was dinner when 1 - we werenāt eating and 2 - our self-control was weakest. I still sat at the dinner table with everyone, but had a glass of sparkling water to soothe my soul. Jesse sat himself away from everyone to avoid temptation.
Saying goodnight - it can feel awkward to be doing something different e.g. not eating shared food, working out on vacation, going to bed early. I didnāt want to deal with the emotional turmoil of a bunch of questions or push back, so I recorded one message explaining the 90 day challenge and that I would be bringing my own food, working out, and going to bed by 9:30pm. Then I sent this single message to our 17 guests (easy peasy!). This ensured everyone was on the same page and made me feel way more comfortable to do my thing.
How do you stick to your meal plan when with loved ones? If you have any tips or tricks Iād love to know.
With love,
Sierra
