Hi friends,
This week was all about skincare.
In case you missed it - my friend Jesse and I are embarking on a 90 day Blueprint challenge (learn more here) where we eat all BP meals, workout 7 days/week, and aim to get 100% sleep performance.
Hereās what we did this week and obstacles we faced & overcame.
āš½What We Did
This week I walked Jesse through the Blueprint skincare routine and we went back to the basics.
Here are the core daily products we used [listed on BP website]:
We split the skincare protocol into morning and evening routines:
āļø Morning Routine
Wash with just water
Cerave body [if coming out of shower]
UVA+B mineral sunscreen [if planning to go outside for more than 5 minutes]
For evening, hereās what we did:
š Evening Routine
Cerave body [if coming out of shower]
Tretinoin .1% [started Jesse off with adapalene]
Some other things we experimented with:
Sauna - to increase circulation & create a natural 'āglowā
Microneedling [at home] - I used Banish, for acne scars on my jawline
šļø Obstacles We Faced & Overcame
Skincare perceived at āgirlyā - Jesse has never done skincare in his life, and doesnāt have any men in his life who have either. There was concern for a moment that skincare and makeup were the same thing (which, for the record, they are not š ). Once we focused on the fact that skin is the largest organ in the body and it deserves love and attention too (just like our brain, gut, heart, etc) then we were on the same page that skincare is worth a try.
Itās too complicated - 3 or 4 steps in the morning and evening feels like not that much to me (compared to say my 12 step Korean skin care days), but for Jesse it was like I was asking him to make a three course meal. We overcame this by taking the pressure off. āLetās try this thing - and if we forget a product or two itās no big deal.ā The goal is just to head in the direction of tending to our skin.
How do I do this everyday? - Itās a habit like any other, and as Jesse explained this new habit felt a bit weird and awkward at first. But just like brushing our teeth, a little bit of focus on our skin every day goes a long way and becomes a natural part of our daily routine. So far weāve both kept up with it!
Overall, Tretinoin has been the single product that has most helped my skin - mainly by eliminating acne and smoothing out my skin texture.
Besides that consistently great sleep, saunas, as well as diet and exercise have contributed greatly to rejuvenating my skin as well.
Do you have a skincare regimen you swear by? Iād love to know.
With care,
Sierra

š I Tried Bryan Johnsonās Blueprint for 90 Days [Day 15-21]. This week was all about sleep, which is our #1 priority for this challenge and (surprisingly) the hardest part for both of us. We tackle the issues straight on in a funny way here.
š„ Atomic Wins
What small change did you make this week to improve your health?
Iām calling these small but mighty moves āatomic wins.ā Iād love to know your atomic win this week (e.g. eating veggies, taking a walk). Iāll be giving a celebratory shout out to three people at the end of the next video episode, and Iād love for it to be you :)
Please share your atomic win here:

Thank you!
Hey Sierra! You actually inspired me to look into Tretinoin with your YouTube video. I just turned 30 and although my skin is pretty good, I was looking to both simplify what I was doing, and also focus on just what works. I've always loved having a skincare routine, but felt like I was spending a lot of money on products I wasn't 100% sure about.
Tretinoin doesn't seem to be quite as much of a thing in Australia, but I found a company that uses it as part of their customised skincare offering. It's https://software.skin/ if you want to look out of curiosity! My prescription (Tretinoin 0.018% + Niacinamide 5% in a Hyaluronic Acid base AA), should arrive later this week and I'm really keen to test for myself!
Skin care! What an adventure, and not the time-consuming thing I thought it might be. Looking forward to seeing and feeling the difference! Thanks, Sierra!
