🤸♀️ Let's Get Flexy
Hi friends,
In two months I turn 30.
For my birthday party weekend I have a vision of dropping into the splits. I’ll do a little twirl, keep things casual, and then BOOM, drop into the splits.
Like this:
The inspiration came from getting into heels dancing (like this) and discovering this style of dance involves a lot of split kicks that I 100% could not do (imagine a room full of people with their legs high in the air, and then me with my leg about 2 inches off of the ground).
Here’s a photo of me trying to do the splits:
As it turns out, the splits are a skill that can be learned. And with just a bit of stretching each day for about 3 weeks, I’m happy to report that I’m now about 2 inches off of the ground.
Nearly there!
Here’s the process I followed:
workout, then spend last 10-15 min stretching
I did these stretches 3 days on / 1 day off:
3 sets per leg:
30 seconds - kneeling hip flexor stretch / lunge stretch
30 seconds - half split stretch
30 seconds - full splits (as far as I can go)
shake it out, do it again for 3 sets, then
repeat on the other side
the first two stretches look like this (lunge/split stretch):
To make the process as enjoyable as possible I: 1) turn on some great music, and 2) envision myself being super flexible and still dropping into the splits at 80 years old.
I never pushed myself so hard so that it hurt. I just breathed, did what I could, and kept going. My focus has been staying consistent & trusting the outcome will come.
What do you do to stay flexible? I’d love to know.
With love,
Sierra
❤️ What I’m Loving
🛌 Sleep Product - Silk Sleep Mask. This is an inexpensive product that’s made a huge difference in my sleep. I’ve worn this exact sleep mask for around 5 years and it’s help me get great sleep by keeping things dark no matter where I am. This way I don’t have to rely on every place I sleep having black out curtains. Instead I just have black out curtains on my face (figuratively speaking).
🎬 Channel - Movement by David. Incredibly engaging content on how to improve flexibility. On my journey to the splits, his channel has been an incredible resource.
💇🏽♀️ Zoom Haircut - Daisy Daze. There’s three types of business models: do-it-for-you, do-it-with-you, and do-it-yourself. I’m a big fan of do-it-with-you since I get to learn from a professional & build a skill. Daisy Daze offers ZOOM HAIRCUTS which I didn’t know was a thing - she teaches you how to cut your hair (mainly curly hair) via Zoom and then helps you pick products that are right for your hair / style. Amazing.

🏋🏽♀️ 6 Small Changes to Easily Get to the Gym Everyday. Lately I’ve been falling in love with my regular workout routine (I’ve been doing the Bryan Johnson routine to a T - takes about 45 min each day). A viewer commented that it’s actually really hard to get to the gym regularly so I made this video to break down how I make it easy and fun.
